Call for Abstracts Now Open

The APFSSH 2023 Programme Committee is inviting the submission of scientific abstracts. 

The following submissions are accepted:

  • Oral Presentation
  • Poster Presentation
  • “How I Do It” Surgical Technique Video Presentation

  • All abstracts must be submitted through the abstract submission portal.
  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English.
  • Submitted abstracts should include non-published data. Abstracts previously presented will not be accepted.
  • Submission of the abstract constitutes the consent of all authors to publication (e.g. Conference website, programs, other promotion, etc).
  • Each Presenting Author is only allowed up to 3 abstract submissions.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of authors for each abstract.
  • All communications will be sent to the email address used to submit the abstract. Your abstract is not successfully submitted until you receive a confirmation email after clicking the final submit button. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your spam mailbox or contact us at apfssh2023-program@icsevents.com.
  • Acceptance of abstracts will be notified via email by 5 December 2022.
  • If the abstract is accepted, the Presenting Author must acknowledge the abstract acceptance and register for the conference before the stipulated deadline, failing which the abstract will be withdrawn.

All abstract should be submitted in this format:

  • Background
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion


Capitalize the first letter of all major words in the title as well as articles and conjunctions of four letters or more. Do not use abbreviations in the title. Do not end the title with a period. The word limit is 30 words.


Below are the themes available for your abstract submission:

  • Basic Science
  • Congenital
  • General hand (e.g. arthritis, infection, vascular disorders)
  • Microsurgery & Reconstruction
  • Nerve (including brachial plexus and spinal cord injuries)
  • Training
  • Tendon disorders
  • Trauma (e.g. fractures, mangling hand injuries)
  • Tumour
  • Wrist
  • Forearm & Elbow
  • Therapy
  • Others

Abstract Body

The word limit is 300 words (does not include title and authors). You are allowed to submit a maximum of 1 image and 1 table.

When using non-standard abbreviations, spell them out in full the first time they appear in the text followed by the abbreviations in parentheses. Capitalize the first letter of trade names. Do NOT enter author or affiliation information in the abstract text box.

You are required to upload a 3-minute recording of your presentation with an audio narrative using PowerPoint on top of your abstract submission.

  • Please make sure to save your recording as a video and not as a presentation.

  • Ensure your presentation does not go over your allotted presentation time.

You are required to upload a 2-minute video recording of your surgical technique on top of your abstract submission.

Submit a 2-minute video to demonstrate how you perform this operation. Your video should include the indications and pre-operative preparation/instruments, demonstrate key surgical steps and highlight relevant post-operative instructions. You should indicate why this particular technique is useful or novel and the anticipated outcomes (e.g. success rate, range of motion, union rate). Ensure there is good lighting, no unnecessary background noise and that the surgical steps are clearly visible.
